A Tent Will Create A Memorable Family Holiday

It’s getting to be a challenge to find affordable family and vacation fun. If you have a family or if you are a single or couple looking for a cheap getaway, buy a tent and hit the road.

It would be tough to recreate what you’ll see while camping if you stay in a hotel. Tent camping allows you to see all of nature in her glory and you will remember the trip for years to come. Hotels are nice to stay in, but it’s difficult to really see the night stars from a hotel room window.

If you think you might miss the swimming pool, the gym, or other hotel amenities you can try staying at one of the premium camping resorts. They have hot, clean showers, refreshing pools to swim in, and some even have hot tubs. You won’t be missing much, but you will have the experience of sleeping under the stars.

For a little more natural experience try the rough tent camping. Some family camping resorts have tent areas that may require a short walk so you are away from the RV’s and cars in the other camping spots. Rough camping is a campsite with an area to place your tent and a campfire ring. This is a good place to get a taste of the true outdoors free from the daily annoyances you may be happy to get away from.

Later, throw a line into the water and catch the family some dinner. There’s nothing quite like a freshly caught trout over a campfire. In the summer the kids will enjoy floating on tubes in the water all day. Sit in a hammock and catch up on your reading while the creek trickles nearby.

Cell phones, laptops, and other necessary electronics can be brought along, too, if you just can’t live without them. Most campgrounds now have not only electrical hookups but many have high speed internet connections available. If you go to a more remote area, try solar chargers to juice up your cell phones.

Backpacking overnight is a unique experience that everyone should try at least once. If you only take the family on one backpack trip it will remain in the children’s memories forever. You may decide it’s not for you, or you might become a regular on the trails. Backpacking requires a good tent, backpacks in which to carry supplies, and good shoes.

All over the world you will find places to camp inexpensively and no matter where you go, it will always be less expensive than a hotel stay. A family of four, for example, could pay for the travel to their destination, their camping fees, buy a tent and some essential camping equipment, and still come out ahead of what one night’s stay in a hotel would cost. The potential for the memories that you will create is worth trying this method of family entertainment. Give it a try and you may find that those video game couch potato kids of yours will become expert fishermen, avid hikers, or skilled in campfire cooking.
